Any candidate wishing to take on the role of a pub manager must learn about all the tasks related to managing a pub and ensure they are able to carry them out to a high standard. Bar or Pub work experience is essential and anyone starting out in the pub industry might want to think about gaining some initial experience working in a bar or restaurant. Choosing the right team plays a huge part in the overall success of the bar and has a direct affect on its reputation. A well organised and well chosen team can potentially deliver brilliant customer service and drive sales.

Management skills are important for this job role because the bar manager needs to keep their team motivated and organised. Staff need to be given direction and made aware of what shifts they are doing and when. The bar manage must decide who does what shifts, arrange cover for illness and make sure that all employees are paid correctly and on time.

Any candidate hoping to become a bar manager needs to spend a great deal of time learning how to operate a business. This includes key business skills such as account management, sales strategy and implementation and daily business management.

In conclusion, the most important requirement for being a bar manager is a true passion for creating somewhere for customers to have a great night or day out experience and the desire to achieve high customer satisfaction.
